Champagne Friday

It's a tradition in our home - good week, bad week - both good reasons to finish of the week regardless,  for Champagne Friday.

Our boys have become accustomed to Champagne Friday to the extent that they have started the same tradition in their private lives. And even if its been a week of frustration, its a good way to welcome a weekend.
This is especially a good weekend as it is the traditional Melbourne Cup long weekend where the whole city of Melbourne stop for a horse race - the Melbourne Cup.

Although its on a Tuesday most Melbournians take the opportunity to take the Monday as well. I believe in France they call it a bridge weekend. For me its an opportunity to enjoy a few rides on the bike in Melbourne's spring weather, do some more painting in the house and to enjoy the company of friends while watching a horse race that stops a nation on one day in November. Tell you more soon.

  2. Hi Leon, I am back to blogging but I think you have already discovered this as you have kindly liked my new FB page that I am using to promote my new Travel Tales blog. Will be featuring your blog there, but you do not have an FB page for the blog do you? I thoroughly approve of this tradition. By the way the Italians call it a bridge when they extend the weekend as well!

  3. We used to have Friday night treats when we had office working hours back in the UK, but now we are running a smallholding the days tend to merge into one another so our treats are randomly scattered!

  4. I can feel the weekend approaching as soon as I leave work on Friday afternoon. The suit comes off, the sensible shoes morf into thongs and then I arrive in the local espresso bar to unwind.

But champagne sounds better. When is it drunk - at 4.30 pm, at cocktail hour or with dinner?

    1. Hels - you wear a suit - how posh. Thought of leaving the thongs (jandles, flip flops for our International readers) on with the suit. Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Champagne as I walk in the door from work and then a Re with dinner, doesn't everyone?

On journeying back on your site I see you're planning another trip to La Belle France and wonder what areas you'll be visiting this time.

    1. Dianne - we're not too posh but I do sometimes seek out our favorite bottle of Saumur bubbles from the Loire for our Champagne Friday.
Yes we are back to France next year but this time as it changes from autumn to winter. We go to Italy first for a special retro gran fondo bike ride with 5000 other cyclists in Tuscany. We then meander into France and the Loire for a bit of house sitting for friends. Tell you more on the blog as time drawers closer. Thanks for popping in for a read - I love your photos. They remind me how great Adelaide is.
