Scenes from Romorantin-Lanthenay

We've been to Romorantin-Lanthenay twice this week, mainly to sort out our internet Dongle or as they call it here, Domino. It's amazing what you discover when doing something else. The town of R/L is about 30 plus kms from Thenay where we are staying. We discovered a little bar/restaurant about 10 kms from "home" that we revisited for lunch before going back to the Orange shop in R/L.
Sue says its the best food she's had so far in France and I have to say it's cooked with care and pride.
Knowing that most shops close for lunch around this way, we thought we would too as nothing can be achieved in rural France between 12 and 2.00

Romorantin-Lanthenay has the most gorgeous river running through it and to prove it, I took a few, well maybe more than a few photos.

To prove where we were!!!

The Matra car museum was one of the reasons I always wanted to visit Romorantin-Lanthenay. Before the manufacturing company closed its doors it was a thriving source of employment to its 19,000 population. When we visited today, there was an exhibition of Citroen vehicles. Being a Citroen owner for many years of many models, I can never pass up a chance to view a display of Cits.

Looks like I've had my classic car fix for this trip - maybe not. I wonder what is around the next corner.

  1. Two comments in one, Leon:

Most people around here just call the town you write about "Romo" -- as in "all roads lead to Romo"!

And have you visited the old car museum in Valençay?

    1. Thanks Ken for the heads up, I'll remember Romo for next time. Sue and I have been there twice in two days and quite like it. We had lunch on the way out at a restaurant at Feings which we very much like. Valencay we visited on a previous visit for both the chateau and car musee.

  2. Next time in Romo please visit
Le Trois Rois for dinner. Several weeks ago we had a truly wonderful dinner there on a chilly rainy night with a marvelour Ris d ágneau
