Parking in Lyon

What is it about drivers parking in Lyon OR is it endemic through out France - maybe, but I don't think so. Paris definitely!!!!!
But Lyon - well maybe! It is the biggest French city outside of Paris or that's what the Lyonaisse (sounds like a sauce doesn't it?) would have us believe.

So they have a similar attitude - we'll park where we want to - so bugger off pedestrians and other drivers. Don't they have parking officers in Lyon?

OK, I'm in a grumpy old man mood, but just take a look at how they park in Lyon and you tell me if I'm a little over the top?

OK, I've vented my frustrations of the working week towards Lyon non-considerate parkers. I promise to be nicer for next "Wednesdays in France".

  1. We were fascinated by the parking in Paris. If there was no room they made room. Push the car in front forward a bit, then push the car behind back a bit and eventually you will fit your own car in. Tough if you want to get the car out again, or the ones in front and behind need to move:-))) Keep well D & N

    1. Diane - I've seen them do bump parking in Paris. Never in Melbourne though.

  2. SO funny Leon .... come to think of it I never saw a parking inspector anywhere in France. In Avenue Montaigne in Paris the big classy chauffeur driven cars just parked right in front of the fashion houses and then remained there until Madame returned. No thought of inconveniencing other road users .... Maybe that's the way it is in the cities of France.

    1. Dianne,
Did they put on their hazard lights. I quite often saw cars pull up outside the bakery or paper shop, on the wrong side of the road, double parked while they went about their business. Strangely, nobody gets stressed - very patient!!!!
