Everywhere we look, there's boxes all around the house. We thought that getting the house all spiced up and going through the auction process was stressful - HA!
Try packing up 33 years of belongings - that's kitchenware, books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and many other things that you'd forgotten existed.
We are moving over the period of three weeks however the big removalist truck comes in on the 11th of January so we still have time up our sleeve.
This is the time to 1] Keep, 2] Give Away or 3] Chuck Out. You still have to box it all up, but the greater amount packed in the Give Away boxes, the easier the move is. I think!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter mum and dad passed away, I kept their photo albums, paintings, decorative arts and books. My brothers kept their furniture and light fittings. Everything else went on a charity truck that came to the house.
It is a very bitter-sweet process, whatever you decide.
Thank you Hels for your advice - I'm sure with the move after this one to the rental and then to our final home, we will filter out much.
DeleteI know the feeling well, I have lost count of how many times we have moved house and countries !!! Have a good Christmas. D & N xx
ReplyDeleteThanks D&N - we have one son in Berlin and the other in Sri Lanka for Christmas so we are Darby and Joan. Best wishes to you both.
DeleteI remember very well the chore and stress of packing up, especially the way we did it, trying to divide our stuff destined for two different countries. It's hard work!
