May I just leave you with one or two photos of our 10 weeks in Italy and France. We returned home on Sunday and I returned to work on Monday, very much jet lagged, I wake at 4 in the morning and at 3, my head drops on the office desk. Then I drive home from the office to have a nap before dinner.
Why is Australia so far from France. And also SO expensive to get there, did I forget also how uncomfortable while sitting in a tin can for what amounts to one whole day. Still the movies although forgettable, were entertaining.
Having complained about the time and discomfort of getting there and returning back home, it is always worth the effort to visit such a wonderful country and meeting up with old friends (you know who you are) and making new ones.
We consider ourselves most fortunate to have been welcomed by our fellow Bloggers in the Loire et Cher region, and especially a special couple who gave us the opportunity to live in the local area for an extended period. Without their genorosity, it would not have been possible. (they know who they are).....
Anyway here's a few of my favorite photos around the region where we stayed in Thenay.

I am glad you made it home safely! I was wondering if you thought it was a good time of the year to be in France, instead of spring or summer?
ReplyDeleteNadege - Sue and I would say "Is there a bad time to be in France". All the seasons are special in there own way and we experience each one with different eyes. We missed seeing snow though.
DeleteLove these shots. It is pretty chilly here at the moment, I also wish Australia was not so far away or so expensive,we could do with a bit of heat and sunshine. It was great to see you again. Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2015. D& N xx
ReplyDeleteThanks D & N. We really appreciated your hospitality. Meeting our blogging community along the way was our special moments.
DeleteWhat a fabulous area Leon so very rustic with an ambiance that could only be French! Yes returning home is always the bitter/sweet but you'll both have a wealth of memories and of course photos to sort through.
ReplyDeleteDianne,
DeleteThanks for your comments however I don't think our photos match to some of the magical shots that you post. I may not make comment but I am a dedicated follower. Tour Down Under is not far off now.
I ask my parents and parents in law the same questions all the time *sigh* Why did the two families choose Australia as the country to move to? And why did Australia have to be so far from Europe? This is less of a concern these days because we can afford plane tickets. But my in laws left Czechoslovakia in the mid 1950s and couldn't afford to revisit their home until 1994!!!
ReplyDeleteI am very grateful to have been born and educated in Australia. But I certainly hear you about the cost, time and discomfort expended in longgggg plane trips.
Yes Hels, we are so fortunate.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read you had a safe journey home. Did they let you in with all that chocolate in your bags? :) I heard border security is very strict in Australia, especially when it comes to 'smuggling' foreign food into the country. Martine
ReplyDeleteBeing a chocoholic Martine, only one box of those lovely chocolates reached Australia - many thanks again for a wonderful surprise.
DeleteLeon and Sue...welcome home. It always takes me a couple of weeks to settle in, but I don't mind the jet lag as it gives me the feeling of being a little bit here and a little bit there. I am heading back to Villefranche sur mer in April for another month long immersion course...can't wait! May I take the opportunity to wish you both Compliments of the Season. Regards, Louise
